Ad hoc committees allow people of various interests to address specific problems. I believe an ad hoc committee should be employed to ensure the continued operation and security of our resident businesses in Elk Grove. The committee should include owners from the business community and representatives from our city gov't, like the Planning dept, the EGEDC, our Finance dept and a rep from our city council. Owners not only have problems to express; they also have potential solutions. The committee can then submit problems and solutions to the council for consideration and implementation.

The same approach could be used for our bank-owned vacant homes. Bank reps and city reps can meet to form mutually satisfying solutions and enable our council to participate in the solution to this gigantic problem in Elk Grove.

Ad hoc committees also are rewarding tro citizens involved in them because they allow citizen input when used in a format as I've suggested.
