Zig Ziglar was an extraordinary salesman and became wealthy doing what he loved: selling things to people. Zig said the thing most salespeople forget to do is to ask the customer for the sale at the end of the pitch.
For 2 months now I've been essentially selling myself as qualified for a position on our City Council. I've given you my pitch on my qualifications, my integrity and my agenda. I want to close this "sale," so now I'm asking you to vote for me to be your new District 5 City Council member on November 4th. And more than that, I'm asking you to get a couple more people to vote along with you.
I've represented myself honestly. I've told you what I think about our city and its future. I've written many articles about various issues expressing my views. I've been an active participant in online forums, while other candidates have shunned expressing any personal views online, being afraid, I suppose, that they'll make a mistake in what they say. Well if you're honest, you don't have to worry.
Whether you're an issue voter or a person voter, you can safely vote for me, and I promise I'll give you my best when you elect me. I guess no one can satisfy everyone, but if I'm elected and you have something to tell me or you disagree with me, I'll be available--and we can take it from there. I will be your representative and reachable at all times. No one, anywhere, has made this promise.
I'm still the only candidate who's expressed an interest in our seniors, our veterans, our economic stability, our budget, our expansion plans, term limits and the need for no-nonsense integrity on our council. I'm also the only candidate who's published an itemized agenda. Look closely--not a single one of my opponents has ever offered a single solution for the city problems they keep talking about. What good is talking about problems if you don't say how you'll solve them? All they've done is state the problems and say we need to work on them.
Don't believe it? Check the web sites of the District 5 candidates, Maestas, Scherman and Trahn. On the first, under "Issues," you'll find a lot of rhetoric that says absolutely nothing about solutions, only problems. On the second, you'll find a list of problems with no proposed solutions and a lot of bragging (yet the incumbent wants a new chance to correct her mistakes). On the third, you’ll find an idea that is too complicated & long-range for serious consideration at the present time.
A candidate should have some specifics--and I do. It's all here on this site. I ask you to review my platform and compare what I've said with the other candidates. Then decide.
Please vote for me on Nov 4th. It's time we had a person of integrity and action on this council.
Thanks
